  • Blood sugar unit is a measure of blood glucose concentration in the bloodstream. The unit used to measure blood sugar is typically milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) or millimoles per liter (mmol/L).

  • Carbohydrate unit is used to determine the amount of carbohydrates in a food. The unit can be a gram (g) or a carbohydrate unit (CU), which contains a defined number of grams (usually 10 or 12 grams).

  • Radio type we can choose one of two radios:

    • Insulin-carbohydrate ratio, the amount of carbohydrates is divided by the ratio. It is calculated by dividing the amount of carbohydrates by the number of insulin units. Determines the amount of carbohydrates per 1 unit of insulin.
    • Carbohydrate-insulin ratio, the amount of carbohydrates is multiplied by the ratio. It is calculated by dividing the number of insulin units by the number of carbohydrates. Determines the number of insulin units per 1 unit of carbohydrates.

  • Precision of insulin dose refers to the accuracy of the insulin dosing device. Insulin dosage is expressed in international units (IU). In pens it is usually 1 or 0.5 units. Insulin pumps enable dose administration with a precision of 0.1 to even 0.025 units, depending on the model.

  • Suggest insulin sensitivity factor - the proposed insulin sensitivity factor is calculated based on the average value (50 mg/dL) and the individual radio.
